The Fine Art Society

Dundas Street

Established in 1876, The Fine Art Society handles Scottish and British art, design, and decorative arts from the 18th century to the post-war period. They run an expansive gallery as well as a framing and conservation studio. Their team provide advice to collectors and public institutions on private sales, auction, framing and conservation. Their exhibition programme enriches, supports and expands the market for historical fine art and design. As one of the oldest fine art dealers in the UK, they have historic links with many of the most influential artists of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The Fine Art Society will be exhibiting Gerald Laing: Myth & Muse – The Cult of Celebrity. The mythology surrounding events and individuals brings the cult of the celebrity into sharp focus in this exhibition. Drawing together work from 1962 to 2011, the year of Laing’s death, the exhibition includes oils, bronzes, prints and preparatory drawings.
